This Chinese temple is located in the same area as the Thai one, it is called "rong jae" in Thai. In the right picture, people are paying respect to the Buddha image inside Luangphor Sothorn temple.
Paying respect to the Buddha asking for good things.
Tai is putting gold leaf on the buddha image of the day she was born (right). You can see that she has to pay the buddha image respect first (left) before putting the gold leaf on him.
One of way of making merit, the girl in the picture is putting some rice from a bowl in her hand in to the seven bowls in front of seven buddha images. They are the Buddha of the days in a week. Putting gold leaf on a buddha image is for good luck and one more way of making merit.
My girlfriend is doing the Chinese fortune telling sticks called siam see. She will shake it until one of the sticks with a number drops out. Then she went to get the paper which matches with the number she got from the stick (she got no. 7). After reading it, she passed it to me to read it. Really, I knew since I saw her smile that it's a good one before I read it.
